The Year of Focus
Jan 05, 2025
Happy New Year and welcome to The Mallery Jane Blog! I’m so happy you are here and cannot wait to dive in. But before we do, we’ve got to rewind, just a bit.
Every year, I set a one-word goal for myself. Last year’s was grow. All through 2024, I worked on growing: myself, my artwork, and my company. I started therapy for the first time in my life in September, working on expanding my comfort zone and trying new things despite my fears, and I traveled to new places with my partner. I pushed myself to explore different subjects and play with tools and techniques I wasn’t familiar with. I created bigger and bolder content, wrote a book, and launched a Palette+ membership for intermediate to advanced painters looking for a quality subscription community.
This year, my goal is a bit different. I’ve grown and pushed myself, but now it’s time to focus. Hone my skills. Create better content. Offer all my wonderful followers more. And with that, comes this blog! One of the first acts of my New Year’s resolution, this blog will be a free, interactive resource. I’ll expand upon the mini lessons I provide on my social media channels, diving into all the critical terms and techniques you need to master color theory, watercolor glazes, shadows, and so much more. In subject-focused crash courses, I’ll do deep dives on some of the most popular subjects in watercolor, giving you inspiration and instruction on creating everything from realistic skies and trees to stunning flowers and fruit still lifes. Please paint along with me and share your creations with the #MalleryJaneBlog. I’ll even take you on tours of my studio and sketchbooks, sharing the ins and outs of the full-time artist life. So, without further ado, I’m cutting the metaphorical ribbon on this blog. Please join me tomorrow as I continue on the first few steps of this journey! Let’s focus together.
